Update: I cant recommend this game anymore. Still tons of bugs and the multiplayer is an abomination. They claim they're going to fix it but until then this gets 1 star. Real shame, I was the ultimate forza fan until now Update #2: The 1 star rating remains. They updated multiplayer (added free-for-all mode), so now if you race by yourself you're at least ranked on your solo performance not a random team's. That being said, it did nothing to fix the rampant ramming and wall riding that make the game unplayable, the free-for-all update only works for solo racers, so if you and a buddy want to race, you still have to race the regular way with 4 random teammates. Really have no idea what happened to this franchise. I still have just as many technical bugs as as I have since day 1 and nothing gets fixed. Breaks my heart that this game is so terrible, I've done all the single player events and now there isn't anything left to do. Without a functioning multiplayer this game isn't even worth a dollar. Horizon 4 is the best game in the Horizon Series. It's an absolutely enormous map with a little bit of everything for everyone. Better than that, the map changes entirely during winter, the trees become sparse, the lakes freeze over, the roads become slippery (but not so bad you don't want to drive)... What Playground games has done here, is create a masterpiece. Horizon 4 is very different than Horizon 3. You can now buy many houses (basically what festival locations used to be in Horizon 3). Horizon 4 has Super-Wheel spins now (in addition to normal wheel spins) which give 3 prizes per spin, and in campaign mode you now play through several career "stories" such as street racing, stunt driving, dirt track, etc. The more you drive in these specific stories the more you progress within that story line. You don't have to race ones you don't want to but you're not going to level up in that area. Like Horizon 3 there are bonus boards scattered throughout the map: 50 Fast Travel boards (collect them all for free fast travel) and 150 Influence boards (influence takes the place of XP). It's hard to explain the menu changes (I've added some pictures) but they've greatly expanded all of them. Skill perks from before are now car specific, so you have a set of perks you pick for each vehicle. This is a welcome change since most of us had maxed out our perks within the first day of Horizon 3, now you have plenty of ways to spent those skill points you earn for banking skill chains. I haven't created a club yet because the club name we had used for the last 6 years is suddenly considered profane... Unlike any other Horizon game you can now customize your driver's clothing, dance moves and victory pose. You can still choose your character from about a dozen avatars. Obviously character customization isn't the reason anyone buys this game but it's still something fun they've added. With the Ultimate edition you get VIP, the car pass, both expansions and the James Bond car pack. I had never used the drift pack in Forza 7 but wow, what a difference it makes for drifting cars in Horizon 4. You can hold a car nearly sideways and keep moving down the road. The radio stations from Horizon 3 have returned which is great, all updated with new songs of course, another addition to the game is quick chat and always-live freeroam (don't worry, the other players are there but you can't hit eachother unless you actually go into a session together). The only complaint I have with the game so far is that photo-mode (up on d-pad) is activated too easily. You used to have to hold it to enter photo-mode but now even the slightest tap will activate it. Don't wait. Buy Horizon 4 now!

This has to be one of the most disappointing game series sequel edition version whatever. They had so much amazing stuff in Horizon 3 that they should have kept, and a lot that they did bring over that they should have fixed. - The only real additions that matter are being able to create your own route. But you can't see the whole map while you're doing it. There's no access to it. You have to drive the course you want to make blind, or by using a picture of the map and therefore messing up the driving line. This was their biggest feature of the game and this is what they've come up with? I could say more about it, but overall it's a failure. - There aren't really any new cars.. I'm not terribly surprised by this... there are a 100 types of mustangs and every ferrari that's ever been made, but a couple bentleys and not much else. The manufacturers' models are all still mostly the same year as in Horizon 3.. so there's not much that's new to the lineup. - The seasons thing. Okay, pretty cool I guess but its so subtle that unless it's winter you barely notice. And what was wrong with going to Blizzard mountain like in 3? Where you could choose when you want to drive on snow and ice. This just means that you have to change the tires on your cars and during winter, it shows which cars have snow tires fitted, after winter, it doesn't indicate cars with snow/off-road tires... so you have to put them all back to racing tires or what have you. - This always drove me crazy in Horizon 3 and they brought it here too? The rain hitting the screen when using the follow car camera view makes absolutely no logical sense. nothing else hits this simulated windshield so why does water? - Many of the engine sounds are messed up. Screeching turbo/supercharger noises that are an obvious glitch, most engines sound the same. - It's confusing trying to keep up with what session you're in. There's no chat feature that I've found. Having the airport in 3 might have been a bit boring after a while as it was the only place people would congregate, there was at least a place to congregate. Players are always spread out everywhere in this map and there's little sense of community in it. Adding to the airport, we loved the runway! Long enough to max out almost any car. Now they've chosen to put one on a beach, a frozen lake (only available 25% of the time), an old runway with a train crossing in the middle, or a super short drag strip. Couldn't even leave a reasonably straight stretch of highway. - The economy in the game is.... whack. At first you can make a ton of money. Leveling up and getting super wheelspins and whatnot. But you quickly reach the highest level of each category and those prizes stop. You have your businesses, but the income is a joke. I'm really not sure how to make money at a reasonable pace here to be able to afford cars and houses - Forza edition cars??? what happened??? You could sell these for millions on the auction place and now they're worthless. And worthless to keep, the boosts they provide are pathetic. - Houses...? This is just a replacement for the different festival locations in Horizon 3, except you have to pay a HUGE amount of money for them. - This one still baffles me... CLOTHES????!?!?! An absolutely endless amount of clothes and accessories that outnumbers even GTA's wardrobe choices. In a racing game? And you can almost bet on getting a clothing item between a lamborghini veneno or a $250k board, on every wheelspin. - Absolutely 0 update in the game's interface. Still can't see a car's top speed without having to be in that car and in the tuning menu. Upgrading cars still takes 10 minutes to get through all the options. Still no where to save custom paint colors. So obviously I hate this game. I hate it because it is extremely lazy work from Turn 10 and Playground Games. Years after Horizon 3 everyone was anxiously waiting for 4. And they served us the same thing with a few added features, most of which made the game worse. The only reason I play it is because I paid for it. Otherwise I'd try to get my money back.

Love this game, i have been a member of the forza series since the release of forza motorsport 2. I remember when forza horizon 1 first came out and it was great, not perfect, but great. Forza horizon 2 came out and i believe that was better. Than horizon 3 came out, and Motorsport 7. Motorsport 7 is good but i was craving a good open world forza. Horizon 3 didn't cut it.....and playground games knew that, and they responded. Forza horizon 4 was created by reviews of forza horizon 3.....they listened! This game has all you want, they overhauled the whole in game sound, from cars exhaust having a little crackle at the end, to the perfect crunch of snow. Speaking of snow, the seasons......i was a little worried when i first heard about this. Thinking its gonna make it annoying to have to change cars for weather, or rain, etc. But i was so wrong! The seasons visually are spectacular........never before did i think that a game could look and feel so good. Seeing your car drive through fall colors, or driving on a frozen lake, it just doesn't get old........it doesn't get old because seasons change, so you have to change strategy and you'll soon find your favorite car for the season. I love the skill tree, personalized for your car. I love the character customization, thought it would be useless at first but its fun to show off your character and emotes. The creator community is thriving and amazing. The car collection is stunning (minus the missing Mitsubishi, Toyota.) If you are deciding whether or not to spend the extra money....do it. You dont even have to love cars to love this game. Its challenges never get boring, and with each season it introduces new challenges, from game campaign, to forzathon, to just cruising. LOVE this game, the best forza yet.

UPDATE 3/29/19: The devs are still keeping it going. I have found that Unranked Online Racing is much more enjoyable considering the greed of ranked points are removed, most of these players are sportsman racers and we have some really good races. Looking forward to the next DLC drop this spring. UPDATE 1/16/19: With the recent update #5, they've added the community desired Free-for-All single player online ranked racing, no more relying on your team to decide your fate. Unfortunately and expected, there are very few people that actually race lines, it's mostly just wall slapping, pushing and shoving, can be a lot of fun and incredibly frustrating. Still a good amount of stuff to do outside online racing, the seasonal stuff every week has a way of keeping things going. I love open world games and I love car racing, thank the coding gods for Forza Horizon. The graphics and open world's "openess" has improved with each iteration since FH1. I remember in FH1 where almost everything crashed you, on FH4 there aren't many walls outside the city that would, very destructible environment. Lots of good air time jumps, not just the ramps, little hills can launch you if you're fast enough. Just a lot of fast paced or driving Miss Daisy scenery fun, whatever you're in the mood for! Farming perks has never been so enjoyable. Never spent much time in auctions on previous iterations, but I am killing it and having fun in this one. Flipping cars and cashing in on people who don't grab the cash with perks, must have made somewhere around $50M in it so far, but seems like everyone is catching on now ;) Using your "favorites" garage is a good way to separate your usable cars from your 500+ collectibles and just mine the wheelspins from your junk garage and remove them. Forzathons are cool and have led to some excellent buys in the shop, always worth having some points in the bank for when the season changes, never know what's for sale next. Always fun cooperating with other gamers in these, try to have a game within the game. Joining random MP race offerings in the map has been fun and joining a group club is cool as well which all leads me to the only frustrating part of the game... Ranked Multiplayer: bah, even if you're the best driver (I'm not) and have the best cars (I don't), you are still subject to various spots of luck and how competent and driven your teammates are, plus plenty of glitches that can add to the issues of trying to rank up. There needs to be an individual ranked MP section, at least one frustration can be eliminated. The best decision I've made is to stop playing Ranked MP and turn attention to the Auction House and Clubs, much more fun stuff. Looking forward to the expansion content coming this month and in Spring 2019, then FH5, keep em' coming MS coders, I'm in...thanks. Special Kudos to the person selecting "Deathwish" by Red Sun Rising, never heard of this band and I can't get enough of that song!
